Overkill the beginning

Overkill the beginning is shaping up quite well. I have most of the map designed, and more than half of the area is filled. but the remain parts are either buildings, or densely populated with pyramids. I personally like this map quite a bit.

this can also be found on the bzflag forums in the map previews section.

It has been entirely hand edited, no modeler, or map editor was used in the creation of this map.

On another note that has nothing to do with this, I wonder when my praying mantis' will hatch.

I thank those navy SEALS who went, risked their own lives to get Osama Bin Laden. We should not celebrate the fact he died, but we should be happy that the fact the threat he posed to us has been eliminated. The enviroment someone grows up in never determines their character. Look at one of Osama's sons. Despite the fact he was raised by Osama he turned out an advocate for peace. The worrisome part is that al-Qaeda's new face will want to prove himself/distinguish himself in some way. That is what we need to watch out for. Many people in the middle-east can rest more easily now. It feels like we've final ended the chapter on 9/11, a lot of familys who lost loved ones will be resting much more easily now. It sure hasn't felt like 10 years.

Map licensing

This is now my attribution requirement for all my previous maps, that contain the creative commons 3.0 attribution share alike license

Attribution

================================================================
attribution was not specified before, but now thanks, to a situation, I am adding some.
my name must appear in the map title which is the -public setting, and any place where any adapter's name occurs in conjuction with the name, same or altered, of this map file. It must be clearly stated so that there would be no misunderstanding who the original author, I,Tanx, is. In order that in no way shape or form anyone, could precieve that someone else made this map.

Here's an example of a violation: "World of Pain* made by player3**" when It was clearly my map, easily recognizable

No confusion such as this can occur.

* server name has changed to protect the identity of the person who ran the server.
** player name has been changed to protect the identity of the offending persons involved

My maps part IV

here's maps : 16-20 in the order of creation
16) Survival FFA 17) The great fight 18) Adroit 19) CTF/FFA 20) House CTF in the dark

Survival FFA is the picture on the bottom
I wasn't able to use the computer yesterday, so in order to stay on track, and make it up to the readers I'm include ten maps today. They are in two posts though

NOTE: MAP FILE FOR SURVIVAL FFA IS UNACCOUNTED FOR.
NO SCREENSHOT OVERVIEWING THE MAP CAN BE POSTED AT THIS TIME!
p.s. this is my fault. the map survival seems to have been totally lost, and it is extremely unlikely I can recreate it or even find it as my computer/usb drive have been searched for it, but to no avail

here's my statements about these maps...

16) Map: Survival
Survival was based on the map Ultimatum. I used objects from ultimatum in this map, but added some new ones. This map could have been classified as Ultimatum II. A unique feature about this map was the fact the teles that linked to each other hade a specific color of pyramid on top of their borders. I apparently have lost the map file. To see a basic diagram of the map (a poor selection of screenies) visit http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=13693&p=134298&hilit=survival#p134298

17) Map: The Great Fight
Not a very good name I tell you that. This map was just like Ultimatum and Survival in so many ways. Apparently it was too similar and someone pointed this out, I didn't exactly resond like I should have to ducatiwannabe's remark about the name. I shouldn't have even responded. See my remark that shouldn't have been at http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=13734&p=135176&hilit=the+great+fight#p135176

18) Map: Adroit
This was a very simple map. But it's simplicity was meant to require skill. This map flopped, not even a single comment on this map. It belongs in the category M with The Barge, but in this case I wasn't overly surprised to have received no comments.

19) Map: FFA/CTF
A map that was like like none other. This map was two maps in one. One side was CTF while the other was FFA. I had never seen this done before, so I decided to do it. I also haven't seen this done since. A very unique idea, but one that was not likely to succeed. I knew this before I created the map, but the idea of two types on gameplay in one map was calling to me. It was hosted, and got around 8 people maximum, but that was about it.

20) Map: House CTF in the dark
That was it's name but I like House in the dark CTF better. This map is possibly one of my best maps, and certainly is the map that preformed the best for me in the server list. It got to the server list #1 slot at sometime during the day for around a week. The best part is that this map was inspired by a rug design I saw while walking into church. It just kinda hit me as I saw the design, and as soon as I got up into the balcony I drew it out before I could forget it. I missed some of the service...

overkill: the city

I've decided to finish this map, my ace if you will. I have a total of two aces, and a jack in my hand. If you've ever played euchre you know that a jack can be very powerful, or not very helpful depending on the suit. My aces are overkill: the city, and Iwo Jima, while a revist to M.I.S.T. is my jack. I designed the original overkill after learning Teamvss was making a city, and eventually it just became an experiment to see how detailed I could get the map to be.

In the following link you can find a post about overkill http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=13764&p=135419&hilit=does+this+map+have+too+much+detail#p135419

It eventually got to a point where my client/computer couldn't handle it, and sadly as time has passed some pieces of paper I basically wrote the hospital coordinates on have dissappeared. (at the time it was best for me to write them down at my skill level). the size of the map would have been 600x600 WU which is pushing it.

so sadly I'll have to totally redesign the whole thing... it will bee 500x500 WU
the first object to me go crazy is nuts, but the first map that made me go insane was this map. It's name actually signifies something, which is "it was overkill to make the map" I forget what I said about it, but it went something like that.

But the map in that post is NOT the map I will make. I'm going to be totally changing it, except the gas station pumps they will be there, as well as the electrical plant.

I might take some of the lines (object lines)from the supermarket and put them inside the gas station, and leave the supermarket bare inside. I've designed the first level of the hospital so far. Overkill the city's original file, in it's final form, contained 6499 lines, my second biggest mapfile (only sidewinder contains more lines at around 6649 lines of code, and if you subtract all the unused lines of code, then overkill might exceed it) Redoing all of the map, minus the pumps/electrical plant parts, isn't something I take lightly. I'm going to create a seperate blog that will detail the progress of the map.

Sidewinder

This is may be the final version of Sidewinder. I've begun to call those objects with the caution texture (the object pictured in the previous sidewinder post), nuts.

The name has a double meaning; For the last few days they've been driving me, well nuts......

troublesome meshes....

graphs

Note: I'm just putting the above her for now, until I get another place to put it
Here's the graph paper from tank galore

doesn't really resemble tank galore, in this version, but the more current one does (I've just missplaced it ;)

on a side note, I'm happy to announce I've found all the pieces of graph paper for the hospital in Overkill: the city. I'm seriously thinking about trying to finish the map. The hospital would be the most difficult part. I also found the piece of graph paper for overkill itself! Everything I need to complete the map is in my possession, now as long I don't lose them. again....

Sidewinder

This is my next map, which for the most part is complete. Here's what I've got so far.
One screenshot shows the general map, while the other shows a nut like object, which has fallen against a wall. The only major piece remaining is the centerpiece.
