Mantids, blendon woods.

My dad and I went to blendon woods, which is less then 2 minutes from our house. We saw a guy down as well, and saw the firetruck from station 29 arriving as we left trying to find a path to walk. Hope the guy's ok. Firestation is actually closer to us then blendon woods is. Eventually we found a path. The first thing we saw was a this strange fungi

we walked awhile, just talking, and observing, and eventually made our way to this lake, where the closest you could get was shelters. On one of the windows I saw this spider, Nice and big webweaving spider.

There was a bank on the far side, and a few geese were sitting there. In the shelters they have some viewing telescopes. I used one of these to look at one of the geese, then put my camera up to it, and ta-da, we have a picture. It tuned out a lot better then it would've had I tried zoom with my camera instead.

This is a picture of a clearing we came across, when we were coming back. We apparently missed it on the way there. It was starting to getting cloudier outside.

A day I had been long waiting for arrived! The day the first mantis' hatched. This is one mantid on my finger, this was one of seven I kept. Sadly I'm guessing arounf 3 won't make it to their first molt. This is just from my experience with them in general. I don't even know if one will survive until adulthood. It's not an easy task to raise them all the way to adulthood.

This is a rainbow. God's sign that never again will the earth be flooded, like in the great flood.
